don't install a short shifter...you're gonna mess up your synchros. besides, factory throw is short as it is. you'd only save like 15%

This is a false statement, specially with shifter setups like the Evo. Synchos will not be messed up if the driver properly use the clutch. This is also true with the stock shifter installed in the car. The main goal behind a TWM performance short shifter isn't just throw reduction but an overall sportier shift feeling. I changed out my stock shifter for a short throw this weekend.

I noticed the black coating which covers the spring was coming off on the areas where it touches the shifter. Is this a problem?
