New GReddy ProFec Setting
New GReddy ProFec Setting
Hi guys, need some help here... im a new evo user and just install the new greddy ebc... anyone can share how to set up or some sample of set up... im using stock evo 7 gsr with cosworth high cam and walbro 255 fuel pump..
I am in same situation, only that I installed in a Evo X instead. Setting it up is relatively easy.
Before setting up the boost level, you need to decide whether you want the EBC to take control of your entire boost range or you want it to intervene at a certain boost valve. If you want it to control your entire boost range (START TYPE = CONTROL) the EBC will try to achieve your target boost as fast as possible, it really depends on your driving style and the turbo you have. Too fast could result in paying extra attention to your throttle especially when you are in a turn. The other option is requesting your EBC to intervene at a certain boost level (START TYPE = NORMAL) You can tune at what boost level at a later stage. Refer to 2. below
1. SET
Decide on your target boost and configure this in "SET". This value control the solenoid valve duty cycle and NOT the actual boost value, therefore it is more of a trial and error to set this up correctly. I personally would start from 20% and work your way upwards increasing the percentage until you reach your target boost. You can find a safe place where you can go WOT in 2nd and see what peak boost you achieved. If it was lower than your target, turn it up and if it's over turn it down and so on.
2. START
If you have selected START TYPE = CONTROL, you can leave this value at any psi. It will not affect anything beucase the EBC takes control of you entire boost curve. However, if your START TYPE = NORMAL, then here is where you can dial at which boost level you want the EBC to intervene. This is again, personal preference. In any case, do not set it too close to your target boost else boost spike may occur.
3. GAIN
This percentage controles the boost curve tendency after the START pressure valve or stability and consistency at high RPMs. Basically in normal circumstances, you boost tends to drop after the peak value is reached. With this setting, the EBC will try to keep your boost curve at your targeted boost level by controlling the solenoid valve. This value can also be a negative value depending on how your turbo behaves.
4. PEAK
This is very self explanatory, it records your peak boost level, particularly helpful when you are tuning your SET value.
5. WARNING
Again, self explanatory, you can set a value when you want to EBC to "beep" you following by activating the LIMITER where you can tell your EBC to drop your boost by a certain percentage when PEAK is reached.
I hope it helps you in setting up your Greddy Profec, remember, a lot of the setup is trial and error to find the perfect setting for you in different situations you encounter, street driving, track etc... There is no "PERFECT" setup. As long as you keep your boost level (SET value) at a safe value for your car, you should be fine. Other settings are just how the EBC behaves which you can play around with.
ENJOY!
