If you want to say goodbye to rust, you could put them on zinc plated steel bolts:

Appreciate the write up Demon!

Would you or anyone know the battery tray bolt size? The heads got all rusted from battery acid and I was hoping to replace them with something that looks nice with my mini battery tray.

Pull one out and compare it to another bolt in the engine bay. If I had to make a random guess, I'd say it's (not M6 like my guess) M8

Bolts are M8 IIRC.

Is everyone here okay with the 25mm bolts for the valve cover? They do seem really long but I figured it's just in my head though I wanted to double check and make sure. They don't bottom out in the head correct?

No, they don't bottom out. I suppose I could measure the length of the bolts and adjust the bolts accordingly. I'll try and do that once I've moved into my new place and got unpacked

I didn't have a chance to look at my stock valve cover bolts, but Buschur sells a valve cover bolt kit and they use 25mm bolts in their kit. I'd say you're perfectly safe using 25mm length as opposed to 20mm or something like that

I never really understood fancy colored bolts and engine dress up on non-show cars.

But I guess some people like everything under the hood shiny... Nice write up anywho

Thanks DEMON and domyz... So it's likely a 8mm x 1.25mm bolt... Any chance you would know the length? I've been on a short term assignment in another state and can't check it on my car... I know the bolt can't be too long cause it will hit the frame... if anyone can confirm the two battery tray bolts for me I can do my boltdepot order before I get back home. Thanks.

Something to keep in mind is that BoltDepot doesn't have non-knurled 6x1x25mm bolts in stock. I call every week and ask!

I'd say 25mm would be a safe bet, may as well order a few lengths since they're so cheap though

Battery tray I can't help ya on!
