Clutch fell to the floor. What's broken?

**Clutch Pedal fell to the floor.

Hi everyone, I was driving my IX the other day and as I shifted from 1st to 2nd, driving normally, the clutch pedal fell to the floor and I had to pull it back up. I checked the brake fluid and clutch master and slave cylinders, no leaking anywhere.

I like to think I'm pretty mechanically inclined but I'm still learning and would like to attempt to fix this myself before taking it to a mechanic. Please bear with me :P

I removed both the clutch master cylinder and slave cylinder to see if either was broken but couldn't find anything broken. I tried bleeding the clutch line but when I depress the clutch pedal with the bleeder screw open, the master cylinder doesn't pull fluid. Does this indicate a broken master cylinder?

I've included a picture where I've circled what my question pertains to. The part that the slave cylinder pushes against is stuck in that position until I manually try to pull it towards the slave cylinder. Is this part supposed to be pushing against the slave cylinder at all times or is it supposed to be in the position it is now? Does the fact that it doesn't push against the slave cylinder indicate another problem not related to either the master or slave cylinders?

Might be your slave cylinder. Iv seen a couple where the pedal goes to the floor its the slave. Get someone to press the clutch in and out even manually and see if the slave moves.

I think it might be as well. Is the pushrod supposed to be able to just fall out?

No Im pretty sure the fluid is what makes it go out kinda like brake calipers. You press clutch the rod goes out when the pedal comes back the rod comes back.

look up in the sight home under the car on the bell housing...you'll be able to see carnage if it its the throw out bearing

TOB retaining clip popped or broke, you have to remove the transmission to fix it.

but not when it's engaged.

So which is it now with the rod gone?

The rod should rest in cup of the fork with the clutch disengaged

I'm in the process of pulling the tranny, got it all the bolts off today and its sitting on a jack overnight. I looked through the service hole and could see that the TOB was off its clip. I'm using the evomoto guide to help, with the TOB already popped out, could you tell me if I would skip pulling the TOB off the pressure plate?

There was a hydraulic line with red fluid and a banjo bolt on top of the t-case that I had to remove to get to the long bolt holding the t-case to the tranny, what's that red fluid?

This bolt wasn't there in the guide I was using but they show an evo 8 in the pics, so I was wondering if this line to the top of the tcase is exclusive to 9s.

Thats the 05-06 ACD line (ATF fluid), now you have to bleed it once you get it back together. You could've got the bolt out without removing the line if you have a wrench that fits between.

I highly recommend going to harbor freight and buy a trans jack if you don't have one.
