Do you have to leave any ridges when you cut away the plastic. I want to try this this weekend, but I am afraid of not being able to get it centered enough for the needle to move. It looks like all of the ridges were gone on the inside of the circular plastic where the gauge goes.

If you look at the photos you can see precisely how much I cut out. The gauge drops in perfectly and centers quite well. I wouldnt worry about that. Plus, there's a bit of play so you can get away with moving it if it isnt centered.

Thanks I have the cluster out and apart. Can't use the dremmel bc kids are sleeping, but I'm doing it tomorrow. I think I can cut a lot less from the circuit board I am going to plug the wires in be fore I fit it so I can feed them through the light holes. I'll try to remember to take some pictures

I'm done. The needle was just lightly brushing the bottom, so I took half a mm off of the needle rather than moving the guage. I did not have to cut the circuit board.

Nice! I've done a few widebands this way. I'm all about efficiency and hate seeing the wasted space LOL

Good job.

I've also seen a few widebands placed there, I'm thinking about doing this mod once my car is back in order

i've done a bunch and it looks great. some gauges better than others. it's a good use of a wasted space. i highly recommend it.
