Or, you know, you could post the walkthrough on this site instead of trying to direct traffic to your site.

That way when the site inevitably disappears, the walkthrough doesn't.

Is it necessary to cut into the circuit board of the cluster? Does it damage anything?

It doesn't damage anything, just be mindful of the electric leads and don't go overboard with cutting the hole and you'll be fine.
