2.4L EVO VIII motors ready to rock -
Very good questions indeed.
#1) Yes, you will need to use a 4G64 timing belt
#2) Correct, adjustable cam gears are suggested - you are welcome to call in and talk to Josh or myself when timing the motor.
#3) Have to research a bit more, I have not heard my guys bring up this issue, I will check if an oversight on my part or theirs.
#4) We will send each block with our custom water pump spacer/ adapter.
All good stuff, thank you - as a reference - our shop would charge about $1,500.00 in labor to swap in this shortblock plus parts.

this water pump adapter plate. do you have a pic of it? from the experience of others, these adapter plates don't seem to work as well as filling in the extra area with welded on aluminium. i am aslo wondering how thin this plate is and if it doen't change the pulley location, pushing it further out?

What's the rev limit on these?
It would be interesting to see the spool on your different motors, 2.0, 2.1, 2.3, 2.4 with a 3076 or 35R.

As far as spool, well, if you can even get 4 people in a room to agree what it is... its still varies so much from your setup, and even tune.
The 2.0l sees 20psi on a 3076 by about 3800. (3rd gear)
This is on MY car.
You could see as much of a shift as say 3200.
Maybe more maybe less. But this is a 'safe' estimate.
The 2.3l will be similar.
The 2.1l will be more inline with the 2.0l. As, there isn't as much of a change in displacement. It might be 3700, or 3600. The 2.1l is about being able to carry the powerband beyond 10k. Not bottom end grunt like the 2.4l. Do not forget the torque that comes into play as well, not only will you see another 30lbs of it, it will come on alot sooner. Which means, not only will you spool sooner, the car come up on torque sooner to get you moving.
Luckily for all of us there's a flavor of the 4G6X to suit all of our needs. And we have no problem building any of them for you. This is the perfect motor for a wicked street car. Or autoX.
Its not such a stark change in dynamics tho, as to say be ineffective as a drag motor either tho. With the right setup, you can make almost any of these perform well enough, even in the area's they are not specialists in.

Mike will get the picture when he actually gets back from jury duty.
He's been laid up for a few days doing that.
But isn't this what you were after?

STGII 600-650
STGIII 700-900
Tuning is probably the most important aspect of making an engine hold what it can hold. You could stretch these numbers if you are good at what you are doing.

It really helps when you are able to take the project from start to finish all under one roof - a few years back things were more difficult and expensive without the machine shop we have now.
Looking forward to helping make a few 2.4l EVO's!

PS - my 2.5l is going in my car in about a week - not sure what turbo I will start with but I can promise test results will be posted!

We have been running variations of the 2.4L block in our EVO IX rally car all year with much success, however the transition for the EVO VIII guys is much more simple without the MIVEC - We CAN offer this as well for the EVO IX guys, however we need to chat on the phone first to explain what needs to be done. We actually prefer if an EVO IX would like to swap to the 2.4L block that the install would be done here at the shop to avoid any complications.
A 2.5L version is also available, but takes about 5 weeks to build due to the lead time on custom pistons - a 2.6L version will be tested soon.
Check out the link, let me know your thoughts!
