My 2.5l for my EVO IX is ready to drop in - it will be a few weeks before it is done with the holidays and such - we are leaving today for Rally of the tall pines in Bancroft Ontario -

If you need some help - please call or email me - I would be more than happy to chat with you on the phone about a few options.

how much credit would a good condition 2.0 get you.

For a local guy....say he wanted to swap the 2.4 for the 2.0...and let you keep the 2.0...how much would the process cost in labor on top the motor price...?

Technical question--what should the range be for compression on a 2.4L?

yes that was what i was looking for, thanks.
i have a couple of questions.
are you using 156mm rods (1.56 rod/stroke ratio)?
if so, i assume it maybe be an 87mm version of the pistons used with 2.3 stroked
engines with a 28.7mm compression height?
what is the final compression expected?

how reliable is a 2.4 motor? i have heard many different things about it and also since it cant rev too high, that may be a concern when running big boost. because of the thinner walls, higher deck, and piston movement/speed. most people tell me to go 2.0 or 2.2 to rev and make a good amount of power on a 35R or 40R. i am stuck deciding if i should build a 2.0, 2.2, or 2.4+....

Very interested in this as well. Would like a pm about pricing of buying the 2.4 vs. selling you my 2.0.

Also, I f I decided to bring my car to you, what is turnaround time and cost then?

What kind of price are you giving to buy back the stock 2.0 block?

Motor in and out is about $1,500.00.

Longblock assembly labor is about $500.00.

You will also need cam gears, complete gasket set, head gasket, and ARP head studs.

Good 2.0l core would net you about $800.00 depending on condition.

If you want a proper quote - please email me mh@slowboyracing.com

Sorry for the delay, I have been in Ontario for a few days for the rally this past weekend.

I have run as much as 10.5:1 on a test motor for the rally car - street version is 9:1 roughly. You can however for an additional $150.00 choose your compression ratio by having a custom piston made by Wiseco.

Stock length rod is used - we can use 156mm rods and a custom set of pistons, just takes more time for the pistons to be made and cost a few more bucks

This is only my opinion - but here it goes.

If your main purpose is to have a motor that will spin to 9k or above, the 2.4l or 2.5l motor is not for you. The 2.1l would suit you nicely however -

People that are looking to rev to 9k we typically build them a 2.0l - and a few people that are willing to put a few more bucks together we will build them a 2.1l motor.

Years ago - we had a 2.1l DSM that made over 700 HP with no issues what so ever, although it was strictly a drag car.

This past year, we used a 2.1l motor to prove the critics wrong and took a podium finish at one of the toughest rallies in North America, 100 Acre wood.

We then build a 2.5l for X games - also using the 2.4l block - with good success.

If the block can deal with rally conditions competing at the highest level in North America, it can deal with 99% of the customers in this forum.

Feel free to email me or call to chat,

You may not want to get into it on the forum but I would like to hear more about the issues you had with mivec on that block. Was it cam gear issues?

I would love to simply take a stock 4G64 block and put a stock mivec head on it. Both can be sourced fairly cheap and should be fairly stout.
