They stiffen up the slop in the end of the shifter cable. Makes it feel tight.

Interesting, well I used very good grease from Nissan, so hopefully that reaction want happen. So your saying this bushing will not do this? What are they made of? Do you grease them too?

No it will not it. This one is a CNC'ed aluminum piece then anodized to prevent any reactions or corrison to the bushings.
