these things work by measuring your voltage output that your engine makes at certain RPM's..(or so i was told). it then in turns reads the output, matches it up with the sensor and lights up the LED's. my question is...if you have say...a 4500 watt sound system and it makes your voltage fluctuate by means of voltage drop...then it is safe for me to assume that the unit readout won't be accurate??

Only reason you would rely need a shift light is for the track. I dont think you will be pounding your system while you are at the start line at the track.Dont need it for just around town action unless you shift at redline with every shift

i don't think it works by measuring the voltage output.. it measures the number of "waves" that come across the wire, that's why after you install it, you have to calibrate it to the exact RPM you want the light to come on and why on the three light model, there is three "set points" you press when you want the light to come on

it's pretty good and accurate way to do it, your big azz system won't fack it up

Keep in mind this may not work right if you have a Earthing kit installed.. Anyone who has tried using a G-Tech pro and had difficulty getting it to register an RPM signal will have the same problem with this.

When it works, it works really well though!
