A couple of fun facts to throw out there.
The Aquamist pump is the best most reliable pump i have use, and seen used. Because there are basically no moving/spinning parts, there isn't anything to wear out. I know of people with 4 years of track use, and abuse with no issues. The only pump i have ever seen fail, was replaced by Aquamist, out of warranty! These are some of the reasons why we choose Aquamist to help build the system you now see.

The other types of pumps seem to work ok, for a short period of time, but i have seen many fail. They have more moving parts, motors, rubber diaphrams, and are bigger harder to install, can be loud.............

The pumps do use Teflon seals, so pure meth can be run. This is a not something we recommend, unless all the safety features are hooked up, but it can be done.

The pump will flow 350cc/min which is a perfect amount for most applications. But add a primer pump (like a windshield washer pump) and it will flow 570cc/min. We have a chart for those who would like to see the potential flow. Included with the kit are 3 nozzles .6, .8, and 1.0. Of course more sizes are available.

In the EVO world we see that pure meth, or alchy is what people are running, and we made the system to work with just that.

Other than that, when designing the system, we had to make it a progressive type system, that delivers more water as more fuel is being injected. In Aquamists systems offered you have to go with the 2D system. This adds more electronics, sensors, injectors, and more installation time. this also drives the cost up. The PWI-1 uses the pumps own DC to inject more or less water as it is needed. So no injector. Since we tap into the injector to read DC, we can turn the water on at an adjustable DC. So no pressure switch.

All this with a flow sensor, allows us to monitor flow, and detect a block nozzle. If a blocked nozzle is detected (or even a partially blocked one) we have wires setup to switch maps, or boost cut, or lights or any number of things.

Besides the display, and float switch added, we wanted to make a kit that was as plug and play as possible. This is a feature many of the installers like as they don't have to spend tons of time wiring and mounting the unit.

We would love to here feed back on the unit, and would love to hear suggestions. This is a kit that was specifically designed for the STI and EVO, and we want to make it as perfect as possible!

Possible upgrade?

Jeff,

Sorry if I am hijacking; but do you think you could offer Aquamist's new gauge as an option. I think it's called the DS3 or something? I think the Perrin kit seems much better engineered than the competitor's and you can't argue with Aquamist in the water/alcohol injection world. I'll probably be ordering a kit in the next few weeks. I almost have the BR 3065 finished on my 2.4L MR.

No worries, on the hijack. The gauge (DDS3) is something that would be easy to add to the system(as a stand alone part) but as you know, many of the DDS3 features are already in the PWI-1. We have already talked to Aquamist about making a gauge that is much simpler. Something that only shows flow. As we progress on this, we will keep everyone posted.

I agree, that seeing how much is flowing is a good idea. We do include flow charts for the nozzles, which will get you very close. But under operating conditions, i would be nice to see what is happenging.

A slight correction on the type of seal in the PWI-1 pump. Originally we were going to use Teflon, but teflon doesn't seal as well. The seals are actually PWK-1, which are all 100% methanol compatible. Just wanted to make sure that the facts were 100% correct.

Containers are easy, OEM washer tanks, and IC sprayers are perfect. Other than that, a custom aluminum tank, or other plastic tank will work just fine. Pure meth is bad for aluminum, but any nylon, or plastic tank is just fine. Just make sure that the pickup for the tank is at the back so under acceleration the pump as a good supply of water.

BTW, we would love to post some EVO dyno graphs on our site of a before and after tune with our PWI-1. If anyone has this, or is going to do this, let us know, we would love to get some EVO results on our site.
