We have tested many intake systems as far as performance, fitment, and style and K&N in our opinion is the best. Flawless fitment with brackets, clamps, hoses, and space. No bending, drilling, or hassling. That is a plus.

Style - The intake includes intake tube, carbon heat shield, and one of the best flowing paper mesh filters on the market. Available in silver, polished, blue, or red. So style is there.

Performance - this will always be argueable. As far as K&N dyno numbers, I would recommend doing a before and after test and showing us your dyno charts that did not work. As far as power gains, it is apparent that different mods including the intake will perform differently. The intake may be good for the customer with just a exhaust, or may not be the right intake for the 500whp customer. All in all the intake will increase turbo spool, horsepower and torque in different parts of the power band and that is pruven and true. Even if you were to only net 8 whp, that is a good gain at the crank.

What sets the K&N apart from other intakes is the suction pipe. Replacing this over the factory rubber corregated hose increases flow which turns to power. Much like the Subaru WRX and STI customers that replace their intercooler hoses, the corregated factory piece is restrictive. The filter has its design characteristics, but bottom line is that it flows more air. Cold or short ram the car is intercooled and more air volume does help the vehicle breathe better.

In regards to your comment about buy back. If a customer purchases the intake, does a baseline, properly installs the intake, then dynos with the same parameters on the same dyno with no additional or changes to the modifications and shows a loss to HP... I will bet that K&N will back us as we are a large distributor and say we will correct the problem however necessary.

Feedback is always appreciated and we look foward to serving you.

Thanks
Dan

thank you very much for responding.

I agree it is stylish and looks good, I still have the intake and the carbon fiber heat shield.

However, the intake tube is where the problem stands. I agree it makes hp. There is no denying it. But the truth of the matter is that inside the pipe is a welded piece that not only constricts the airflow, but creates a swirling motion of the air (hence the typhoon) in a paticular direction. But since the turbos on the EVO is reversed, the air coming in and the air the turbo is trying to pull in is fighting itself, therefore creating a problem in the middle of the air pipe just before it hits the turbo.

This not only kills some of the power but it effects the production of the turbo. I put the stock intake tube back in and not only did I get increased throttle response, I received more tourque.(this of course is through the butt dyno) BUt when I get another dyno tune, I will show the difference in power and tq between the stock tube and the typhoon tube.

I would also like to see the dyno sheet on a before and after Evo that has the typhoon. Tuned or untuned to see that 14hp can be gained. I don't think it is possible on the Evo. On other cars???? Absolutely, but there turbos are going in the same direction as as the air flow.

Bottomline...it is pretty and can create some hp but other intake systems and the stock tube can create the same and better hp than the typhoon.

I think they need to take that small piece out of the pipe and I bet you it would run so much better.

I'm thinking of getting an intake a when i get my car back from Mitsu. I sucked water in throught that open inlet through the intake during a storm. I see your picture still has the inlet installed. Is that functional? Can that be removed for this intake? Will i suck water in through this set up?

Thanks

I never thought that would be a problem. I don't think it would be the same because it does not go directly into your intake like stock. How bad was it?
