Here and there I see the "let's convert an Evo 8 to Evo 7 look, or using a bumper that does not maintain the front or rear crash beam. Like many people, I have thought about getting the JDM Evo 7/8 rear bumper (I think it looks great), but have not due to worry, or lack of funds (Just bought new tires....ouch).
My question. What do the JDM cars have behind their Evo 7 front and Evo 7/8 rear bumpers. Is there a smaller crash bar, or foam or something. I find it hard to believe that there is nothing other than the intercooler in the front, and the frame in the rear. In tight parellel parking, how do they keep their cars from getting trashed. If there is nothing behind the bumper, why have it?
The reason I ask, if there is something out there, can we get it, and will this protect the car from stupid things. Not the 5 to 7 mph impacts, but the bump when parellel parking, or loning your car to the significant other, or the lady on the cell phone backing up.

I don't think JDM spec cars have any reinforcement behind the bumper covers.
