Nice engine bay Matt.

What kinda blow off valve is that and how do you like it compared to the stock one?
How do you like the open air filter? Does it have a better response?

I think I might have seen you around. I'm in the Royal Oak area. I just got my Gray MR in October.

Mach 8 / marksae - For those of you that don't recognize the strut bar - it's a factory option, available from your dealer!!! It's aluminum (those red things are removable) and I had it polished by a local (giving it a tad more "bling") but it's SUPER light and looks great IMO.

MIevo8MR - The BOV is the HKS Racing Type II. Costs a bit but is AWESOME, worlds of diffence over stock, and better then the GReddy Type S IMO. The open filter is the Injen Intake kit. It comes with all the polished IC piping you see. The air filter alone makes the stock BOV sound mean, and the HKS one it just awesome.

I'm always in the Long Lake-12 Mile & Woodward area so if youre in Royal Oak Im sure you've seen me around. Black with tinted windows and Bronze Work Emotions.

PM or e-mail me sometime and we'll meet up. Maybe go drift around in this snowstorm.

Strur bar is awesome, and so are those CF pieces; I'm not down with the honduh wrinkle red on the valve cover, but whatever floats your boat.

Yeah, the wrinkle red wasn't my first choice. But matching the stock color was *impossible*... just wait untill the Turbo and Intake Manifold are done... maybe then you'll like it.

v8killer - It IS the HKS Kansai one, and I got it when I was over in Japan. I have seen them on eBay and for sale by vendors in the past. If Im not mistaken - Varis makes one as well.

Z1 - The process? I dropped it off at the powdercoater as said "make this wrinkle red" . If you want the number to my guy, PM or e-mail me.

Hey Matt,

Thanks for all your help regarding the fittings and details on the JDM valve cover. Here's how mine turned out.

THAT is awesome! I hope my advice helped... but now it's YOUR turn!

Did you just sand off the "EVOLUTION"? If so what'd you use? (Grit, Polish, etc)

That looks AWESOME!

Thanks a ton Matt. I decided to go with a 3/4 NPT plug for the rear that will reduce it to a 3/8 NPT and then use a 90 degree swivel fitting to connect it to stainless steel hosing. Since it's not really a very high pressure system, I don't think there will be much compromising of the fittins. I will be permatex coating the threads for added security and stability.

As for the EVOLUTION part, I used a die grinder at first to get to the bare metal below. Magnesium is a very dull dark metal and this required that I used the following grits - 400, 600, 800, 1000, 1500 and 2000 to finally get some luster out of the metal. I then went with two different metal polishes. The first gave it a dull finish, and the second gave it a high luster mirror-like finish. I clear coated afterwards to retain the luster.
