Infinity Kappas don't fit in front!?
Okay, based on recommendations from this forum and Crutchfield saying that the Kappa's fit, I got a set for my front doors as a Christmas gift. I just tried installing them, but they don't fit. I'm talking specifically about the model 652.5i's, which are 6.75" diameter.
Basically, they are a good half inch smaller than the door opening. Others here seemed to mention that their speakers came with an adapter ring. Mine didn't (they are brand new). Is it possible that the 65.2's come with the adapter, but the 652.5i's don't?? If so, can someone recommend where I could get one?
I'm sure I could rig something up with some big washers or something, but I'm not willing to 'rig' my EVO.
Thanks for any advice,
Rob

That adapter is for a 6.5" speaker, but mine are 6.75". Do you know of a 6.75" one?
I may give in and make my own if I have to. What material are you guys using? Sheet metal? Wood? Plastic? It seems like plastic would be best, but I can't think of where to buy a flat sheet of plastic.
The idea of chopping up the stock speaker is fine with me, but then won't the new speaker be mounting too far proud of the surface (so the door panel won't fit over it anymore)??

Can you use just the trim ring that it comes with to attach the grill as a trim plate? Not sure if you have the depth with the door panel cover, but thats common use in the car stereo world as well.

The grill trim ring wasn't shaped right to do anything for me. Good idea though.
I tried cutting up one of the stockers to use as a trim ring, but it was a little too half-a**ed for me.
Instead, I just added four washers and used the stock mounting holes. It fits surprisingly well, actually. Very solid.
Thanks for everyone's help.
