why bother getting the RS then...?

I'm still trying to get used to the VII wing on the VIII... I don't know something about it just looks kinda odd to me, I think the fact that the evo VII was designed much more "square" compared to the the more "curvy" evo VIII and that was built into the spoilers too the VIII wing is a little less "boxy" when it comes to the pillars that hold the crossbar. I wouldn't have gone that route but props for being diffrent!

What didn't you understand? When I bought this, it was 2004 when if you wanted front LSD you had to get the RS. I already had a $1600 stereo deck, what's the point in getting a car with one in it if you're just gonna rip it out? It was a goal to be able to do a power window/lock conversion using OEM parts (not just a fugly kit) and there were many parts involved...goal accomplished. After that, the car was STILL $5000 less than the GSR... spent $1000 of it on a sub and amp, $500 for an alarm, $700 for turbo-back exhaust, another $2000 into the engine, flash and tune, and a little under $1000 to the exterior of the car. So why bother getting the RS you may ask...I have an EVO that is different than about every one out there, I'm 4.1WHP away from 300, and plan on changing more parts out to make it even MORE different. I've always had to be different with all of my vehicles, it's a habit and has continued onto this car.

I've put a total of a little over 7 grand into the car, including the stereo, conversion, engine parts, flash/tune, exterior, etc. As for the stereo, the deck is a Pioneer CD/MP3/DVD player with the flip-up screen, JL Audio Evolution 6.5's all the way around with componets in the a-pillars, JL Audio amp powering the JL Audio W6 in a ported box.

Looks great Matt! I think that your plan to save money and come up with something different really came together well.

Your car looks so hot. Mad props for being different. Just get a new different set of wheels and lower the car and your car will be the best RS I've ever seen.

So how much did you get the 04 RS for. And did you know you could have bought a the front limited slip for the 03 or 04 GSR. I'm also curious on how much it cost you to put the PW PL, and are there PM too. The reason I ask, there are a couple of my customer wanting to do the same with their 2005 RS.

Anyway's you did a great job. The best RS conversion I've seen yet

Those last 2 post made all of the hair pulling and swearing while trying to get all the parts COMPLETELY WORTH WHILE.

As for the price on the conversion, it all depends on how many parts they can get out of a wrecked EVO. To buy the panels and all parts from Mitsubishi would've been around 4 grand, but I was able to get most of the parts off of other cars. I think Mitsu wanted around 400 per panel, so if you can find a set used for $200 like I did you save $1400 right off the bat. You also need wiring harnesses, lock actuators, lock brain, regulators, motors, and some patience to get it all done. I ended up getting sick of searching so the parts I had to buy from Mitsu were the passenger wiring harnesses, regulators, actuators and motors. Everything else came from a few other people. $1000 to Mitsubishi and about $500 for used parts. The thing to do would be to find a totaled EVO without side damage and get ALL the parts for around $500, I had to get parts here and there...so it cost more.

You can give me your wing

Great car by the way. I always like to see what people do themselves. I bet you feel a lot more satisfaction driving that car then if you'd just bought an MR, right?

Oh definately, I actually get a lot of people asking WHAT it is...kinda funny. They can't tell if it's a GSR with a different wing, Vortex generator, black handles and mirrors or an MR with Enkies or just an RS with a $%#load of time into it. I get questions and smiles a lot...everybody seems to like it though. I think the next to come is going to be a lowering and rims.

so, you bought an RS just to have the front LSD...? so you track this car regularly...? cause you won't ever know that LSD is there on the street...

and then loaded the car up with a bunch of useless weight from a stereo...?

it's your car bud... i'm just not seeing the point... could you not have added the LSD after the fact...?
