Question ??? On JDM Evo MR Headlights

I finally just got my set of JDM Evo MR Headlights and they are awesome. I will post pics when I install them.

I am fully aware of the 9006 bulbs and wiring harnesses. I have those and will do them here shortly, my question pertains to the adjusting motor.

On the US OEM Headlight there is a thick cord that runs from the motor to a 'spinning wheel' that doesn't do anything but let it spin. The MR Headlight housings do not have any screw holes to hold the cord like it did on the OEM Headlight housing. Do I need this cord to use the headlight adjuster from inside the cabin?? Or with the MR Headlights I will not be able to use the adjuster.

Any help would be mega awesome!!

Thanks,

Jason

your headlights will adjust fine from the cabin. i have them. that cord is only used to preset the height. it is actually easer to adjust with out that contraption on there. but it is a very simple install.

fantastic. after taking one of my spare motors apart it looked like that cord wasn't needed but I wasn't sure.

Thanks again and I will post some pics after the install this weekend.

Hey I noticed you are from Indiana??!!! Where you at?? There are a few of us down here in Indianapolis. We should get together. I like the bumper and hood.

I just got my car back today, MR headlights rock it up!!! MR taillights rock it up!!!

Just finished installing my Tein S. Tech Suspension (2.5 hours mind you that and one side took me over an hour ) Which rocks but will definately need an alignment.

Yeah that meet a while ago was with most of us. We will be having another one so hopefully you can make it then.

Thanks again and everything works as it if were stock

According to a buddy of mine, he did that MR headlamp swap, the USDM headlamp level adjustment are for both low/high beam but for the JDM MR headlamp level adj only for the low beam.

wow!!! His USDM Headlights adjusted the high beams too?? Are you sure?? I have taken apart 7 headlights in the past 5 weeks and none of them had a leveler for the high beams.

(Taken apart 3 USDM HID Headlights, 2 JDM Evo VII Halogen Headlights, 2 JDM Evo MR Headlights)

But yes the leveler on the MR's only work the Low Beams but I thought that the USDM's where the same?? I mean the high beams were just halogen bulbs. Interesting. What year was his/hers??

Very true. i noticed that after I installed the MR lights over my stock 03 evo headlights. The Highbeams just kind of hang out now. ANyone else have a problem adjusting thier JDM evo headlights so that they shine together properly. i can destinctivly see the cutoff of the right side of the car vs the left side of the car.

^^^^ If you are talking about how it looks like the left side is up higher than the right side, it will always be like that. It's because they are the Japanese version and are set to be used if you drove on the left side of the road, not the right.

You will get use to it , I did.

Have you ever got the left side to straight across? It also seems to angle straight about halfway through then shoot at a 45 out to the left. both lights are like this.

He is right. On the USDM headlights the cord that has the gear on it is used to ajdust the high beams while the motor is directly connected to adjust the low beams....
