Question Blackout headlight questions?

Does blacking out the headlights have any effects on the brightness of the headlights or the way they shine? Especially the amber parking lights and turn signals. I thought the chrome background was used to illuminate and reflect the light. Also which would be better on a tarmac black, flat or gloss? Pics of both would be nice if anyone has some. Thanks

On a tarmac gloss definetely, flat on every other color. There isn't any reason that it should affect the brightness of the light, the projectors an bulbs produce the light and the chrome housing is only for asthetics, try asking evodave, lol...he'll tell you the correct answer.

i disagree. i have a black evo and this weeked some firend and myself are painting my headlights matte, flat black. imo gloss black will not go with the car/look as good as a flat black would. look at evodaves customers they almost all have a flat balck. it's really up to you and what you like better. saturday evening i will post pictures of my headlights if you want me to

So the parking lights and turn signals light up just as bright as they did before they were blacked out?

yes, i had the same concern. we have 3+ local evos all with flat black headlights and they shine just like oem lights. remember black headlights are standard over seas.

it's kinda cool becasue the lights look more circular after they are blacked out

A little bit of courage and the right technique's will get the job done. I did not use the oven due to the fact that the oven available could not fit the headlamps. That's why it took me a long time but I got it done and got it done perfectly.

look at the difference in color of the OEM amber parking light and my new JDM amber turn signal.. They are just a tad bit darker but I like em like that.

***Note I did not color the lens orange, I used the refractive nature of the clear lens to bring the orange out.
