To the owners of the Mitsubishi aluminum shift knob

To anyone out there who owns or knows someone who owns the Mitsubishi factory silver aluminum alloy shift knob, could you please tell me what you have to do to make this thing fit right? I was hoping it would just work out of the bag, screw off the old leather knob, and screw on this knob. Well, I tried that, but when fully tightened the numbers don't line up at all They're like upside down. I was looking through the directions and it looked like you are supposed to tighten it down first and then put the sticker for the gears on, but it came to me with that already on there. I don't know if I should try taking the sticker off and regluing it on, or put some washers in to make it line up better....I'm not sure what to do. It cost $90 so I can't just get something different, and I love the way it looks. Anyone with some insight to this problem? Thanks!

Tyler

Yeah, just push the sticker piece up from underneath with a screwdriver (going thru the thread opening). Then, put it in neutral, tighten down, and put on straight. I've realligned mine a couple times.

The knob is nice looking but will freeze your hand off during the cold winters. You will see what I mean.

Hot months suck too.. try living in Utah where it's freezing cold and then blazing hot... We have a titanium shift knob on our S2k and it's bad...

Yeah, I'm keeping the stock one in the center console...if it gets too hot or too cold, I'll just switch them out

I have this knob in my MR, but for all I have tried, I cant remove it...does it just unscrew? I almost broke my wrist trying.

Theres an allen wrench screw under the sticker that needs to be loosened first. After that it will just spin off.
