Re: Dealer replacing CF wing...is it CF under the side panels?

I had heard before under the side panels, the spoiler is CF as well. I have the dealer telling me it is plastic and some other people (Evo owners) telling me it is CF. Has anyone ever straightened this out?

I remember someone accidentally found out when they scratched up theirs. Does anyone know? Mine is being replaced because some funky **** is happening to the clear coat in the middle and it looks very bad. I want to know because if it is CF then I will tell the dealer to not paint it and only put the clear coat like the middle piece.

I'd like to know about that as well. My CF wing is doing the same thing and I'm going to take it to a dealer soon.

Ahh...just found it in the How-to. Still a bummer though. They still cannot do it because even though it is all CF under the paint, the wing comes with the primer on the side panels. Which means they would have to do the work to take it off and then do the clear coat bit on the sides. Of course, that is not going to happen, so I will have to wait till I get it back and take the wing to a bodyshop to get an estimate. Oh well. C'est la vie.

Almighty wez- I suggest you take yours soon, because the first time I took it, they did not want to warranty it. I had to get a friend and the service director involved who does the entire set of dealerships for all of the city. Where do you live?

YO my clearcoat is kinda coming off too. it has for some time now, and i know others go through the same thing. Trouble is for me : i dont own an EVO, but i DO have the OEM wing. It's not under warranty, so i guess i'm screwed on sending the wing to the dealer huh?

It is all C/F. It is also covered under warranty on the Evo's if you have problems with it. I had to have mine replaced about six months ago.

i suppose you could find somebody with an evo in your area and have them take in your wing.
