Evo 8 Car PC Kit/2-DIN and Cubby Modification.

After searching for this modification everywhere I decided to take matters into my own hands. This is what I will be offering to the EvoM community.. I want to see who would be interested. My Kit is geared towards the Car PC enthusiast. Please Note another Member by the name of SpoolingEvoX has a similar Kit I am simply offering a cheaper alternative for members.

1. This kit was hand manufactured and will be molded so I can keep costs down since I'm manufacturing them myself.

2. This kit allows you to keep all the electronic controls intact such as the HVAC. Once great feature about doing things is that you will save $$$ on installation or conversion to the HVAC that EvoX is offering. AND best of all you get to keep the MAX A/C feature that is not offered on the EvoX Kit.

3. I also work with A Body/Paint specialist so I will be offering these kits in so far 2 colors, FlatBlack and / Silver. I guess we can do other colors but that's all I thought about for now.

4. The COST to produce these are going to be much lower. I don't know exactly how much so far but only 2 plastic parts are needed, the double din and the bottom HVAC Cubby conversion. All other electronics are OEM.

Here are pics below.

Please Note: My own project isn't finished yet, so the color matching is off. The bottom cubby is shiny black because it will make it easier to mold off of once it's done. Not to mention I need to get these painted so I didn't put it all quite together yet.

One thing to note, the above picture of the 2-DIN is actually a Evo 9 Din, and I modified it to now include the CLIPS ON THE BACK OF IT. So it simply snaps into place. I will need to mold this as well. Also The Screen on my personal PC project includes a screw that makes this screen removable in case it ever breaks. As posted as a link on the beggining pages of this thread my Project has always been a Car PC so if the screen is off it's because the PC in the glove box is not there yet.

Any questions.. PM or respond here.. Enjoy

One more thing I don't mean any disrespect To Spooling Evo, His kit is just as nice, he just took another direction. I personally would have atleast liked to order his 2-DIN from him instead of creating my own but now that I think of it, I like the texture on this double din as it's more OEM than the scaly one that he has.

I'd also like a list created for how many people would like my "Jedi 2-Din/Cubby Kit"

One Last Question- I have a Silver Evo do you think I should paint the already semi-silver dash pieces to match the Evo 9 2-Din including the Cubby or should I keep it Straight Black.. I'm having a hard time deciding. At the same time I don't want it to look too Ricey.

i like it...tho the bad part to that screen would be the glare from the sun, and you can really tilt it around, tho i would really want to relocate my HVAC down there and get a double din for the top

In all honesty I tried it out and didn't find it to be much of a problem. This screen was made for a car environment and it is very bright. Here is a picture of it.

Honestly if I don't sell a single one of these kits.. I'm just happy I actually got it done for myself.. I just thought since I went through all the trouble I can offer this to another Evo/PC enthusiast as myself.

Looks really nice! I was always interested in putting a PC\screen into my '99 Prelude back in the day, but the project never came about for me...

i like the hvac down on the bottom. the only problem is i have a kenwood dvd deck already, wish i could have seen this before. i am definitely interested in moving the hvac and would be interested in a top panel that keeps the deck opening but adds 3 gauges where the hvac is oem. overall, this looks very nice and im sure the finished product will look excellent!

Can't wait to see the finished product. Just curious.. what type of input do the screens like that use? vga? dvi? or do they require a "special" type of video card. I've always wondered about this

Count me in. I'm integrating a PC into my Evo to have constant access to my SMART XEDE without having to have a laptop in my pass. seat all the time. I've got everything I need except the screen and HVAC mounting hardware. PM me when you have a finished product.

Thumbs up

Not really interested in the PC aspect of it, but I would definitely be in for the HVAC relocation. I do like the head unit where it is currently. I really want to put gauges where the HVAC controls are currently, though.

How much difficulty in moving the Hvac controls down there with your kit?

I will definitely be keeping track of your progress and availablity. Eager to see how your HVAC reloaction looks when it's all dressed out.

That's really cool. Is your screen by chance touch-screen?
