If you are trying to convert over to that console in a US version car...it's not going to work. You will need the ENTIRE a/c and heat setup because everything on the JDM ones (and UK I believe) are all automatic, ours are manual.

That topic has been discussed, beaten down like a dead horse, brought back up, and killed again.

Best thing to do is get a galant or 3G Eclipse a/c panel and put that down there and rewire it into our cars.

Yeah, if you do a search, this topic has been flogged to death.

Bottom line, unless you're willing to spend a couple thousand, forget it. And even if you do have the money, nobody on this forum has the know how or experience in doing it. Your best bet is to check out spoolingevoX's conversion kit.

I really dont see how that looks any better than the OEM one, and I've been told that it doesn't even work as well as ours

Cause it's auto climate - set and forget. You don't have to constantly tinker with it to get the 'right' temp. A luxury item that the US Evo could really use...

I think it can be done, but you have to use the eclipse's or galant's I think. There was a thread about this a long time ago. It's somewhere.

There's a thread with the 3G eclipse unit - but is also manual. It is however, a good way to relocate the HVAC to the bottom cubby.

To actual convert ours to auto climate requires pulling out the entire AC unit, the cables, etc. and replacing it with an electronic unit that has sensors and feeds. I'd imagine it's not an easy job, cause otherwise, knowing the resourcefulness of the Evo community, it would have been done already.

so i have a 2005 260 gsr and i have had to heater control relocated to underneath as there is a double din in the head unit space now. i think it looks terrible i wanted to re vamp it a bit and get the same climate controls as the pic at the start. So from this thread it sounds like it won't work is that correct ?

It's not easy or cheap but it could be done.
