The DSM, The Mighty Max, the galant, the Colt, the Mirage. Yeah they were all lower end vehicles, but **** they are all reliable. Before anyone gets on about DSMs breaking all the damn time. That is entirely the cheap *** owner's faults. I have had 5 now, and only 1 kersploded on me due straight up freak accident. The other 4 where all 160k+ and completly reliable. the 1.8l engine is freaking bulletproof, so are the 1.5s in the mirages.
I had a '98 GST for 2 years. Spent more on maintainance than the car payment. While I may not be baller enough for a porsche, spending $7,000 on general repair and maintainance over 2 years on a car with less than 60K miles is out of my price range.
I'm sorry, but I cannot make a recommendation to any friend to buy a non-evo Mitsubishi product.
That being said, my evo has been mostly bullet proof and I enjoy the hell out of it. It's the ONLY car that if it were to be totaled, i'd want to use the insurance money to find the exact same car, rather than upgrading or moving on.

Mitsubishi here in Seattle promptly denied every repair through loopholes and I took the business elsewhere.
Not sure what you're trying to prove here? The car "should" have been fine, especially with the extended warranty and limited mods (Intake and exhaust). Mitsubishi designed, built and serviced the car in a less than respectable mannor.
Therefore my opinion of Mitsubishi is valid, first hand, and comprehensive. We could also go into Mitsubishi voiding Evo owners warranties, going to track events to log license plates and the like. But none of those activities would counter my statements about Mitsubishi.
However, BACK ON TOPIC!
i feel better about my situation now. i got hit by a german 2 weeks before shipping the car back to the states. his insurance company is only paying 70% of the costs to fix because they say i parked to high on the curve of the road. since when does an insurance company get to make that call?
that's why I carry uninsured motorist insurance, he can run and I still don't have to pay.
