Evo9 Hids

My brother wants to get a evo9 but just a regular 9 with no SSL, he wants to know if it is possible to get HIDs for his non-SSL evo, does he need bulbs or is there more?

you need a conversion kit, normal hids use a D2 type plug, with a HID kit you can buy from xenondept and stuff, they will come a bulbs that fit HXX and 900X sizes instead of the normal OEM D2 type plugs, i think evos are H11 and 9005 or something. THose kits will also come with a ballast and wiring to convert the energy going to the bulb. THe kits usually cost around 400 a pair. Heres a good site and great products, http://www.xenondepot.com/. Rember, the higher the K doesn't mean the bright the light, purple HIDs have worse lighting than normal stock halogens that you have in a non SSL evo, get 4300K-6000k, most usable light, 4300k is on all OEM spec cars like BMW, Lexus and such, it's pure white, 5000-6000k will give you a bluish tint, DO NOT GO ABOVE 6000K OR I WILL SHOOT YOU

I did the 9006 HID conversion on my car. (non-HID headlights are 9006) The light cut off isn't as clean as with a real HID projector but good enough. It's real easy. All plug and play. Besides removing the front bumper and finding a place to mount the ballasts, it takes 5 minutes!

I used this $300 kit. Uses OEM ballasts and 4300K OEM D2S bulbs for a OEM look and reliablility!
