Climate control issue...
Climate control issue...
Here's the deal...
I have a problem with my climate controls, just started happening yesterday, and I'm not sure what would cause this.
Whenever the fan is on, at any speed, the AC is on, the compressor kicks in, and the LED AC light is on. Hitting the AC button does nothing, changing the temperature does nothing, and changing the vent position does nothing.
The vents are permanently on "recirculate" unless I go to a defroster setting. Pushing the RECIRC button, once again, does nothing.
The whole AC being stuck on this wouldn't be bad, if it wasn't WINTER.
I have no idea what would have caused this, I checked the connections on the back of the climate control and all seems fine. Any suggestions? Weird fuse I might not know about?
Thanks,
- Steve

I really don't know - but realize this is about the compressor, not necessarily cooling. Technically, all it's doing is removing moisture from the air. You can put the temp wherever you want.
My guess is a sensor behind the dash as to knob position. Either the A/C switch is broken/hosed or the sensor for the dial being turned all the way counterclockwise is broken/hosed.
Good luck, curious m'self ...

When the car is cold in the morning, it takes that much longer for me to get heat, since it doens't only have to be warm, but warm enough to warm the outside temp and the AC cooled temp.
Running the AC compressor all the time will put added wear on the compressor and decrease fuel effiency slightly.

This happens NO MATTER WHAT POITION ANY SWITCH IS ON!!!!
any liquid? armor all etc, get near the switches???you'd be surprised what i have found in switches sometimes. best thing to do is to find another lancer in the area and do a quick swap to test the switch. also check behind glove box to see if pushing the switch actually switches from recirc to fresh air.
Usually what causes this is some miscommunication between the control head and the AC clutch control which I believe is tied into your PCM. Might be a bad relay, might be a bad control head, or might be something wrong with the PCM communication.
Best bet is to try to find someone with a working control head, plug his in and see if it does the same thing.
