the ignition harness is thicker gauge and puts out more amperage which then allows the radio to run at a higher power. with the stock primary wires that are behind the stock radio you could flip the switch to 60watts but it wont actually make a difference.

 

If you want the best HU, then here it is....

JVC KD-ADV6160

and the reason its the best......because its the only HU that can read
MP3 off a DVD-R (A DVD-R holds 70-90 MP3 albums compared to a CD-R, which holds
8-10 MP3 Albums). It also play DVD-Video but you need a screen. MSRP is low 300s (ie 330$, 340$)

I have had 2 Pioneer HUs, a 7500s and a 7600. I liked them but stupid like things started going out (ie the cd would not eject all the way on the 7600 after bout a year, the volume control on the 7500 started slipping and not controling the volume as well)

 

Pricegrabber.com you can find great deals on alot of HU's including the 9855. Just DO NOT BUY FROM CAR STEREOLAND.COM. They took a month to send it and they LIE!!!!

 

Are you guys just using the factory speakers with the aftermarket head units? Im looking into a Kenwood Excelon KDC-X889. Ive had a few Alpines which were pretty damn good.... just looking to try out something else for a change. This one got great reviews on crutchfield from users. Anyways... let me know what you guys are doing for speakers. I have an 06 MR that I just picked up yesterday.

well after i last night i hooked up a pioneer DEH-P7700MP with an ipod, the stock speakers sound damn good. and im not talking about the infinity speakers either

Definately upgrade speaks later on down the road. BTW, anyone aorund the Northwest Suburbs of Chicago can stop by my CC roadshop and I'll set you up with a system .

I will definately upgrade them.
