JBIGELOW:- The Airbox....
Reminds me of the cold air box I made a few weeks ago. You need to get a good source of cold air flow INTO the box.
Also, you are using a BAD MAF adapter! That is actually removing a large section of the airflow coming into the honeycomb section of the MAF. The pipe size to your filter looks about 3 inches, part of the MAF is over 4 inches, and you are covering it up. This creates a major problem with the MAF making a correct reading. This is why so many intakes screw up tunes.
Other than that it's sweet. I made mine out of a storage bin.
Here's how it was before

Here's my sweet $3.50 storage bin and Mountain Dew for cutting power

The Box corner completed with the duct coming in

With the filter before the top is on

With the lid on

May I recommend using these instead of phillips head screws? IT would make removal of the top plate much easier. These are simply knurled thumbscrews available at hardware suppliers like Fastenal, etc.

Dudes,
Thanks for the comment. I've gotten quite good response locally. It would be feasible to obtain these high quality airbox if there was a group buy. I've spoken to Gruppe-S and they had showed interest in obtaining these product, nevertheless, i've yet to hear from them and was told that they were too busy. Thats why I referred this to Jbigelow who corresponded with Gruppe-S.
evillusion,
will put that into account. thanks for the tip.
jid2,
i understand what you meant. nevertheless, the MAF on the car is not exactly 4 square inch, if you know what i mean.
If this is not adequate enough, what more about the original air duct with its bonnet, radiator is blockin air from going into it.

Good intakes use a MAF adapter that will bolt to the MAF's rectangular shape and then become even bigger. An example is the AEM which uses a filter with a roughly 5 inch opening, or the Buschur Filter which bolts directly to the MAF and uses the exact shape of the MAF opening.
The stock airbox use the inlet to feed air in, and it work fine. My box uses a 4 inch duct coming from the bumper opening, but you have to remove the intercooler sprayer. You really need some way to get COLD air flowing into the box, otherwise it's a hotbox.
But I really like the general design of it.
