Modifying the stock recaros
Modifying the stock recaros
I have a bit of a problem . . . The stock seats fit me very well (6'4", 225lbs) but are very uncomforable for my wife (5'6" 125 lbs.) The problem is that the shoulder supports are too high on her and force her shoulders inward making it uncomfortable.
My question is whether the upper bolsters can be bent outward to make it more comfortable for her. I just don't want to get into the cost of replacing seats.
Thanks!

My wife is the same height as yours and she doesn't have a problem with the seats. Try some padding on the back so that she doesn't get burried in the seat forcing her shoulders inward. I think having her sit on a couple pillows would be more insult than anything else.

I don't think trying to bent the top bolsters is a good idea you might break the seat. You could try going to a shop that does interiors and have them take the seat apart and add some extra padding on the bottom to give her a lift to make it more comfortable for her. Or have them make some sort of seat pad that will sit flush on the seat that she can put on the seat when she needs to sit on it.
My wife is 4'8" & 348lbs. and fits in the trunk fine... oh wait, you said the seat... No, seriously my wife is about the same as yours, and she usually complains about everything, but amazingly the seats are ok for her. I don't think you could really modify them without ruining them. Maybe you can find the seats from another Mitsu car and try to fit them, or like was mentioned above if it is a really bad problem, get aftermarket seats.
First off, I want to thank those who offered useful and mature comments.
Those that mentioned "boosters" are you referring to those used for children or are there other options?
What I will probably do is have her try the seat with a pillow on the bottom or back and see which one corrects the problem and then go to a custom seat builder to see if they can modify the seat accordingly. It has to be cheaper than replacing the seats.
Thanks again.
