Unusual Boost Gauge Location

I just installed my new Defi BF Boost gauge.

Sorry this pics are so dirty. I will clean it all up and take some better ones once I have my Gruppe-S panel and additional gauges installed

after

First, let me apologize in advance but sorry man, that is indeed the worst looking gauge location I have ever seen in a Evo.

I just happen that I purchased two Defi boost gauges yesterday, one will go on the Evco 9 and the otyher on the Evo 8MR, the places to go are:

in top of the steering column
on the left mounting pillar
in top of the dash in the center
in top of the speedometer clauster

I swear I am nbot trying to be mean but that is the wrong place to put it. There even gauge pods for single, double and triple gauges that would accomodate your gauge on the radio spot.

Just a note...

If you read my post I am also adding the Gruppe-S panel and needed a spot for the 4th gauge. Proximity wise it does not obstruct views of any other gauges and is actually easy to see.

I think pod and pillar mounted gauges look bad personally.

Matter of preference I guess

BTW -- I can completely remove it and put it back to stock any time I want to

A man after my own heart! :-)

BTW,
I thinks it's a resonable placement - my steering colum mount is always in the way.

You used some inventivness, and you can always change it, if a better idea hits you.

If anyone remembers this was pretty common on the 1G DSM's. There is an actual panel that would delete the a/c vent and provide a spot for gauges, an S-AFC or a combination of both.

back to stock whenever you want? In the 3rd pic it looks like the A/C vents are cut. Am I seeing things? :P

You are correct. I purchased a center vent from a wrecked Evo and used that to put it together. I still have my original one. I can literally put it back to stock within 5 minutes and you would never be able to tell.

ahhh. I don't think it looks that bad really. From the pics it does look like it might be aiming up and away from the driver tho.. is this a deception in the photograph? and where do you have the control unit?

Tough crowd tonight. I would expect no less

I am going to finish installing the other gauges tomorrow and get some better pictures.

To answer some questions/observations. The control unit is mounted in the glove box. The gauge is actually canted in the direction of the driver. It is also fairly vertical so that it matches the other gauges. I tried mounting it flush with the vent first and it looked really strange and out of place. The location is very easy to see.
