Thumbs down

No, I painted my stock GSX wheels bronze and had taped off the lip, thereby leaving the look of a polished lip; I didn't paint it. And FYI too many ppl have complemented me for my DIY "dumpster" wheels

EvoTech - I'm in california and don't think i want to ship wheels across the country for powder coating. But, I really like the look. I know there are guys locally that can to the powder coating, which is the easy part. Polishing the rim is the tough part, but I'd think totally doable for someone at home.

So, I've read alittle. Would you recommend...

Tape off the rim (like 1/2"), sand, industrial strip, steel wool, to get the metal clean,
Then sand 200 then 400 to get smooth,
Then polish with tripoli (using a dremel)
Then polish with white rouge compound (dremel)
Then wax
Then take to a guy to powder coat and tell him to tape over the polished rim before he does anything...

If I understand right, your polished rim is just bare metal, no clear coat. Is that true? From what I've read, you can't get paint to stick to the polished rim. So, once this is done, the owner just needs to polish/wax the rims after every wash.

Does the process I've described sound like the best route?

Thanks!! and I've got a bby 8 also so yours is exactly what I'm going for..
