Need some info on powdercoated wheels....

Anyone know what the stock wheels are coated with? I'm having my wheels powdercoated and the guy doing this is having one hell of a time getting them down to the bare metal. He has used a sand blaster with glass beads and some kind of chemical to strip the wheels without any luck. I was planning on using these for my winter wheels, but with the time it is taking him to do this, I've been forced to run my Volks right now. Good thing we haven't had any snow yet.

Any ideas? Anyone on here that has personally powdercoated thier rims themselves?

You have your wheels powdercoated? I talked to him the other day and he didn't even strip the paint off from when I tried to paint them. This whole time I thought he was doing that. I'm gonna pick them up this week and find someone else to strip them and to coat them.

The stock wheels are powder coated in a 3 step process. That finish is bullet proof and does not come off easy. It needs to be submerged in paint stripper and then bead blasted with aluminum oxide. Better off to just bead blast the clear coat off and go over the stock finish.

So they don't have to be all the way down to bare metal? The guy that is suppose to be doing this told me he could powdercoat over the stock coating if it was actually powdercoat.

I looked on your site and see that you do powdercoating. How much would you charge for just black without a polished lip?
