Defi BF's in the daytime

I had the amber BF's in my old Evo and was really disappointed with the daytime visibillity. It seemed like I almost had to make a shadow over the gauge to see what it was reading, even when it was turned up all the way. With the next Evo I was thinking about going with the white BF's. I know they won't match, but I was hoping the daytime visibility would be better. Could anyone with these gauges post how good the visibility of the gauge is when it's light out?

Gah...screw it...I'm going for the AutoMeter Nexus gauges. It'll allow me to color match at night and be very visible during the daytime (changable colors )

LOL...yeah, I just figure the Nexus is the best of both worlds. Sure, 80% of the colors won't ever be used, but I can change between red at night and white during the day. It can still record readings, and even more than the Defi with an external memory card (like from a phone or camera). It also comes with software to datalog on your computer with the info stored on the memory card. It ALSO has a warning system where, if say the gauge is white and your reading goes above what you set as the safe level, the whole thing will turn red. Pretty sweet...a little bit more cost, but they have more features. They're also a standard 52mm, so there is less restriction from a wide A-pillar gauge pod for a 60mm gauge.

More info on the Nexus:

Yep, the Nexus gauges are pretty sweet. I'm thinking about ditching my D-Gauges and getting these. I can play with all the colors to my heart's content!

Nexus gauges are good but I read a few bad reviews on em. The Defis seem to be really solid and I have yet to hear a bad thing about them.

I just saw them on in a shop today and the ambers looked pretty bright to me

They're bright in the shade or at night...they're not bright enough during times of full daylight. What bad things have you heard about the Nexus? Everything I've read has been positive, and they seem to fit exactly what I need.

I have the BF's in white and they only time I have trouble seeing them is if the sun is shining directly on the face either through the sunroof or one of the windows. But otherwise, they are plenty bright enough.

I honestly can't remember, but I read enough to have me steer clear. Especially for such expensive gauges >.<

I looked through the past threads, and see what you mean. I wrote AutoMeter to see if this was a common problem that has been addressed and fixed. It was their first attempt at something like this, and I'm sure the first batch had some problems (kind of like cars). I just hope they fixed it or I'll be going to the Defi's. I hope it's been fixed though because I REALLY like those Nexus gauges.

I think you can adjust the brightness during the day but I could be mistaken
maybe you can only adjust it when your parking lights are on because of that one wire that hooks up the D link
here is a shot during the day

what you might try is to hook up the defi link wire that says to go to a small lamp... to a 12v ignition source and then you can adjust brightness

I'll wait and see what the people at AutoMeter say. Thanks for all the input!
