Overspray of Undercoating
Overspray of Undercoating
I did my first oil change and when I was under my car it seems some dumb*** sprayed undercoating all over everything. I spent two hours cleaning the inside of my rims and due to time constraints could not clean my shocks that are black instead of Bilstien yellow. Has anyone run into this and have any ideas for a semi-fast cleanup?
If degreaser was working for you try simple green, you can find it anywhere and its very strong.
Spray it on, let it sit for a couple minutes, aggitate the crap with a wheel brush and power wash it off.

This is the factory undercoat believe it or not. When I did my 1st oil change I thought the dealer had had one of the wash rack boys spray it with Kragen undercoat, but no it came that way! Overspray city. A comercial tar remover might work.

I wish they would have the coating be a little more consitent. Maybe its just the ones I've seen but mine is kinda greasy, I've seen a couple others that are more plasticy. It seems a lot of makes are doing this to their vehicles now. It makes sense, though, makes the car last sooooo much longer. Especially in the northern areas since we have to deal with salt on the roads in the winter.
I don't mind the undercoat since I am in the Northern climes but spraying it all over my rims and shocks, that hurts. I have the oily, tarry substance. When I wipe it with a rag it smears but slowly comes off. I was going to use brake clean but I am afraid of peeling the paint on the shock.
