SSL factory Subwoofer question

http://www.audioallies.com/GetItem.asp?Item=70%2D7003

I bought this combo harness and installed a JVC head unit with it. The stereo works and sounds fine. The problem is that when I try to adjust the subwoofer using the JVC's subwoofer settings, nothing happens. The subwoofer has sound coming out of it, and it sounds fine the way it is, but I can't adjust the level using the headunit's subwoofer settings. Is this normal after replacing the factory stereo? Or should I still be able to adjust the subwoofer with the aftermarket stereo?

You can't control the factory sub thru your head unit. The subwoofer setting in your headunit is designed when you actually have an aftermarket amp hooked up to the RCA plugs for a subwoofer. The stock speakers and sub are hooked up to one amp which is located underneath the driver's seat. The only way to use it is buy an aftermarket amp and hardwire it directly to the sub and then hook it up to the RCA jacks on your headunit
