I finally found the company that will make a carbon fiber roof!

But guess what... because of the shortage of CF, that may be on standby for a while

Ive seen a few posts here of members talking about it, but no vendors here selling them or making them.

You as the consumer are probally not aware but their is a worldwide carbon shortage going on. This effects everyone involved in motorsports. Composites companies are going out of business left and right because the fabric is no longer availible. Airbus and Boeing are the large fabric consumers. They have placed their orders for 3k fabric (which is what just about every motorsports company uses) at the beginning of the year and just that order took up just about all the 3k fabric to be made until the middle of 2007. Major carbon companies are feeling the pain of the shortage now. ViS Racing has released that they are no longer offering 3k twill on their products. They have opted for a larger 6k weave which will no longer match any of their other products. Seibon has discontinues quite a few items from their inventory and tring to stick with their core products. To make matters worse, Dupont has realeased they will no longer be making kevlar for the colored kevlar fabrics for 2006.

 

thats awesome. i saw a few 9s with em on a truck it looks sick as hell. that price isnt even that expensive either isnt that cheaper than a cf hood?

nice, but probably heavier than the MR aluminum roof.

 

But a cost effective way to get rid of the sunroof, for the people interested in that.

I've been looking for a Carbon Sunroof plug FOR EVER...found one place that could do it but after checking w/ some Tech's @ my Work it seems that the weight from the glass is mainly what SEALs it so it could very well leak if I had one made!

I'd be all over this though!!!!

 

sounds like they don't have plans to make them for evos. i would rock it if they did since i have steel roof

 

hum so what if you have a sun roof.

 

Its not a replacement. its a cover for the existing roof

 

ya im seeing it as that too. basically all cosmetic. Not wort it if you ask me..i dont even rememeber the last time i looked at my roof lol
