fender rolling pix :)
An issue with cut fenders is the strength will surely decrease, no doubt about it, its commonly known, especially if you speak with body design engineers that design actual stamped OEM vehicle fenders/parts, even on cars that come with folded fenders like say the 370z, the lip is still there, just completely folded like a good quality rolled fender.
I'm sure there are many ways to get a rolled/folded fende..., roller tool, hammer, bat, pipe etc..... realistically they are all doing the same thing.... its your method and patients that will make the final result, metal work is not always easy.... and of course I'm sure the roller tool is the cleaneast, simplest method to do it unless you got some super sweet crazy body metal working skillz/experience.

No you just dont shave it all the way down. You only need a few cm clearance and theres plenty of lip there. You shouldn't be doing the entire thing either only where your tire rubs. You think that lip will save you in a crash or something?
The lip is only ~cm, I don't understand what you mean..... by strength meaning, you can easily deform your fender....... crash structure was a funny joke
good write up but ive done a couple cars i just use a hammer if you tape the out side of the fender with some painters tape and hold a piece of wood on the outside and hammer from the inside it does a great job just have to take it slow. thats just how i do it
