Seibon Hood Questions w/pics...

So my Seibon hood came today and I'm very pleased so far. There are no visual blemishes and the weave looks great.

Are there any tips as far as mounting? Do I need to know anything before I start trying to mount it up? I'm trying to get the fit as close as possible.

What about under the hood? Do you just leave the vent that's in there or do you try and swap out the stock vent & underhood heatshield?

evodan2004 - what did you end up doing and do you have any shots of of the underhood?

i think you should put the heat shield under the new hood. i had a seibon tsII hood that had the clearcoat cracked pretty bad because i didnt put the heatshield under it.

It does not mount up like stock and will require some customization. I just dropped it off at the dealership's body shop and they're going to do it for me - so I'll just keep my fingers crossed that it comes out okay.

Mine mounted up like stock, however I tried to put the stock vents in and they will not fit. 1 piece of advice mask it off and paint the chrome mesh black before you mount it.

just put the stock mesh on it. looks better and matches. I had a vis, and all i had to do was drill two different holes so that the stock mesh would fit. by the way my hood fit just like my stock hood. perfect!!, and try to put on the heat sheild, because after some hot days and the motor just roasting under the hood, some clear coat started to crack.

looks good and show some pic of your ride

I got rear ended on the I17 and pushed into a blazer with a trailer hitch. It f'd my car pretty bad.

Here's a shot of it several weeks ago over at the shop: http://www.sp00lin.com/Evocrash.jpg

Evodan - Sorry to hear that some a-hole keyed your car. That totally sucks. Where was the car when it happened and where'd they scratch it up? Can you make an Comprehensive claim against your policy?

BACK ON TOPIC - I plan on trying to modify the hood so that the stock heat shield and vent are attached somehow. I may also try adding some heat tape and some kind of spray that is supposed to protect it from heat.
