use mothers billet polish, stuff works like a charm...the only thing is if the endtanks are cast then, you have to prep it(sand down and then smooth it out), after prepping us the polish. this polish can be found at any autoparts store!!!

If it is already SUPER smooth use a 1000-1200 grit sandpaper and wet sand it till it looks to be dull and not have any marks at all. Then use a good metal polish (Mothers listed above works well) I personally used a product called simi-chrome that is mostly used in manufacturing to polish molds for lexan eyewear lenses.
If there are alot of scratches in the metal or casting, wetsand using 600 or 800 grit and then as it gets even, start using finer grits. (1000 and then 1200). Polish to finish and your aluminum will look like a mirror. Keep in mind, it WON'T last. After a few washes or rainstorms, it'll start getting dull and you'll need to polish again.

Yeah, for once, I can say an over the counter polish like Mother's Mag and Aluminum polish would be great for this application. So much for my more expensive botique stuff .

A helpful tip if you have never polished alum before. Invest in some latex gloves. The black stuff that comes off with the polish gets under your nails and into your skin and is a royal biatch to get off. Plus they help stop getting finger prints on your nice polished pieces.
