Installed Greddy Boost Gauge in Single Autometer A-piller Pod (w/pics)
I know there are a lot of posts about how to install boost gauges, but this is basically just to show off mine and give everyone a few more pics to look at when picking a gauge and/or pod to use on their own car.
I installed the Greddy electronic boost gauge yesterday in a single Autometer a-piller pod that I painted to match (or close anyways). The paint I used was the VHT Light Satin Gray, SP-971 which is made for interior plastics. It matches close, but not perfect... see pics below. I am happy with how close the match is since I really didn't want a black pod that stuck out more than this.
The gauge itself reads peak at 19, which is perfect since it is a stock Evo IX, and vacuum around 12 while at idle. The needle moves very smoothly and doesn't bounce around at all. I am very happy with the operation of the gauge and how it looks in the car. At night it matches the lighting of the stock instrument cluster very good... again, see pics below.
The only problem with the install was that it came with a rather short wiring harness for constant power, ignition power, lighting, and ground so I had to extend it to reach from the a-piller to the wires under the dash that I wanted to use. If you don't know which wires to use just get a 12v test light or voltmeter to find them under the dash. You can look for one that has power when the car is off, when only the lights are on, and only when the ignition is on.... pretty easy if you try it.
Ok, on with the pics!
