Pic request: Zero-Lift kit mounting position

Hello, you may have to get down and dirty for this picture....

I just purchased a used Zero-Lift kit front dam (so no instructions attached). I need pictures of where the strip is mounted on the undercarriage. Basically I'm not sure whether it attaches on the bumper or the undertray, or both?

So, a picture would def help. i'm also confused with the bolt positions (I haven't recieved the part yet, only have seen pictures of the strip by itself)...but maybe a picture from the backside of a strip mounted would help as well.

thanks!

to avoid confusion...this is the strip I purchased...

^heck yeah...in fact, it was your original thread that convinced me to puchase one!

But anyways...same deal, it's going onto a Evo 8 bumper and OEM undertray. Is it easier to take the undertray off or not? In fact, if you can take some pictures in the middle of the mounting process, and some hint and tips, it'll be greatly appreciated!

thanks!

attaches to the undertray and sits just under the rear part of the bumper lip. there's a bunch of nuts/washers too.

i'm looking at the part right now, and the bolts and nuts are horizontal. So, I'm more confused now. Does it attach to that plastic panel that's sticking out perpendicularly from my undertray?

Again, pics would help. Also, there's a metal backing plate in the center portion of the strip, does that go between the strip and the undertray section, or the outside and it sandwiches the undertray section?

mdosu,

really sorry about this, but due to a number of problems, my intercooler is arriving Monday. I was expecting it on Friday so I can install it along with the front strip at the same time.

I'm afraid the install will be Monday at the soonest (providing there's no furhter problems with customs and so forth). I'll post a few pics during the install.

To answer your questions (and if you don't want to wait for a relatively simple project, which i can appreciate) the bolts and nuts do go horizontally. You need to drill the 'lip' that sticks perpendicularly out of the undertray. When I got mine, there was a pattern printed on paper so just glue it on and drill at the spots.

How it fits is that the bottom edge curves forward slightly.
- The perpendicular lip, through which you drilled, sits in the middle.
- In front of it is the metal that's on the rubber strip itself and the bolts (technically button head screws) face in such a way that tightening them your screwdriver points to the back of the car.
- Behind the plastic bit (drilled through) goes the backing plate, spring washer and nut.

That's all there is to it, iirc. The fiddly part is drilling the holes. You can do it with the undertray on the car or removed. I did it with it still on the car, but since I have taken off and reinstalled the undertray without removing the strip first, I think it will be entirely possible to install it with the undertray off and then just put the undertray back on once done.

Good luck...

p.s. mine's a JDM VIII MR and the lip is also Japanese. The US model might be different...

so it goes... rubber piece, plastic undertray piece (drilled through), then metal backing plate?

I can still wait for pics, b/c I can't get working on my car until I drive home to visit my parents (they have a nice big comfy garage to work out of)

I wish I had the paper template to drill the holes, but I guess I can have someone hold the strip for me while I mark the holes, but the strip is long and it bends...blah.

x838nwy, do you still have your paper template strip I can have or purchase? I figure it can't be that expense shipping a folded piece of paper from Thailand to USA?

thanks.
