LED Bulbs
has anyone tried the LED bulbs
I thought of doing a conversion for the exterior lights
turnsignals brakes markers etc
anyone do this yet
what are the bulb specs
the manual says ansi numbers but none match up to anything i found
except the 168s

I did all the rear bulbs for tails and brakes, turns out it caused a wierd issue with my ACD and turned on all 3 ACD lights after a certain amount of time. Happened every night I drove home from work...annoyed the crap out of me. I thought my ACD was shot. For a different reason I swapped all the bulbs back to stock and that evening the problem was fixed. Hasn't happened since removing those LED bulbs in the tails.
Might be completely unrelated, but hey, it was enough for me to keep them out for good.

I need the turn signal bulbs (W5W), but I can't find the "stock" ones anywhere, every one I've found so far has a plastic bottom, whereas the stockers are all glass, any help?
I don't really want LEDs, but I figured since exterior bulbs were going to be discussed in this thread I should throw it out there, instead of making a new one... Sorry for the possible jack...

All you have to do with the ones with the palstic bottoms is cut off the plastic. Works fine.
I am working on a complete LED conversion for my evo. So far I have done all of the bulbs in the tail lights and the center highmount stop light. I have had the LED's in for a few weeks and I to did get the same problem yesterday that AMSTuning got. I did some reasearch and I think there is a way to fix this.
Following a clue that I got from another member, the high mount stop light seems to carry voltage even when you are not pressing the brakes (in my car I measured 1.0 volts) This voltage somehow feeds back to the car and lets your ACD system know when you are on the brakes. I hear it is somehow tied to the antilock brakes as well.
What you said "how you swapped back to regular bulbs and it made the problem go away" - this makes sense.
My question now is to find out if we can simply wire a load-resistor into the center high mount stop light LED to see if this will fix this problem.
From how I understand standard bulbs: They basically are resistors that give off light. When I measured the resistance of the stock highmount bulb I got 1 OHM on my multimeter. My next step is to try and put a 6 OHM resistor like I said, in parallel with the LED. Hopefully the car will react like it did with the stock incandescent bulbs. Worst case if this does not work, we could always wire the stock bulb in parallel with the LED in the high mount and just leave it on the bottom of the package tray where it creates no light from the point of view of the outside of the car (yes this is cheesy)
any recomendations would be greatly appreciated.

I have not added the resistors yet, I notice that this only happens when I drive in the dark (lights are on)
I leave for work early in the morning and need my lights, this is when I get the problem of all 3 ACD Lighting up. After work its bright outside and I never have the problem..
Also, I can make the problem go away if I turn off the headlight, and running lights and then turn them back on. (the 3 ACD's go back to normal just 1 as soon as the parking lights turn off)
Wierd thing is I am running dafarmer69's running lights in the back.
