New OEM Wing update

About 3 weeks ago I went to Mitsubishi and showed them my defective wing. Today i got a call saying that it was in and ready to be installed first thing tommorow!! Beats waiting a year..I guess they are off National backorder for now.

So we will see if it is the evo8 wing, as they say it is, and i will report back tommorow. I believe the way to tell is the 9 has the rivets on the inside of the wing and is painted where as the 8 has the rivets and is cf.

The only downside is that I have the seibon carbon trunk and they have to do the install...looks like I will be taking several before and after pictures of the trunk/wing area to make sure nothing is damaged...

Overall good news as the current wing is done for...

perhaps you should drill the holes in your trunk yourself to avoid them f'ing it up.

If they went off the wing TSB it will be a evo9 wing. good luck with the install.

Drill the holes yourself. If you don't I'll guarentee they'll probably crack the carbon fiber. good luck!

I guess I am leery of taking my car into the dealer as since the day I bought it, it has never seen the dealership, nor anyone else driving it except for Al.

When you put this kind of money into a car, and someone is working on it...you want to keep an eye on it at all times.

A month ago a guy at work backed into me causing 500 in damage to the drivers passenger door (just dented in) and I havent gotten it fixed yet as I am too paranoid to leave the car anywhere...

One thing is for sure I will disable the hood pop so the techs dont mess with anything and waste time looking at what isnt stock...I hate getting the car serviced!

They better not mess up that trunk! I mean it is not rocket science if the holes are already there anyway! Are they letting you keep the damaged wing? If so, what do you plan to do with it? I would be happy to take it off your hands! That is if they let you keep it.

/\ I doubt they will let me keep it as it is a 1200 wing from the factory. But if they do I will be sure to put it up for sale!

I just invision them tigtening down too much on the trunk cracking it...

So I just got a call from mitsubishi saying that they need to either keep the car all day...haha, or I will have to bring the car by another day as they have to "buff out" and add clear coat and touch up some spots on the wing to get it perfect....

How hard is it to shoot a wing and clear it....
