What do you guys think about the idea of painting the top amber piece to chrome?

chrome paint never turns out well, plus you need that part to be see through for the corner marker

yeah, he posted that same thread over here at evom. Sooooo what ever happened to that guy??? he hasn't posted here for months now I think and he even offer to do my headlights just like that but at the time i just couldn't afford not driving my car for work and college.

Maybe around thanksgiving I'll send him my headlights or to evodave, we'll see.

Edit: oh yeah his evom name is ToqueMonster and he's been posting recently so if anyone has a question for him, send him a PM. Don't forget about evodave too guys!

I took the headlights off last night. It took me about 3.5hrs from jacking the car to completely removing the clean lens from the lights. I used the heat gun. Will paint the housing tomorrow.

I am having problem removing the amber pieces. What is the trick?? The amber pieces are attached to the chrome housing with 4 little clips. I broke 1 clip already. Wonder what you guys did to remove them??

1 broke on mine too, that actually makes it really easy to take off now. They should come right out. The way you should do it is push the clips in from behind with a flat head screwdriver. They should fly right out of there. The worst part is the hour or two you will spend with a razor blade cutting out the excess adhesive. Masking parts of the light you don't want painted will be hard too. Other than that its fairly easy once you have them apart.

I am assuming, to do the amber turn signal, we just need to paint the turn signal reflector piece amber/orange. Should we just leave the top parking light section chrome, and take out the amber reflector??
If you want them to look like the JDM lights, you are going to need to paint the chrome piece on the turn signal. PM me and I'll give you the paint color number/brand. You cannot make them look just like the JDM's unless you have the clear piece for the top corners. If you remove the amber cover completely all you'll have is clear bulbs lighting up. You will want to put the amber piece back in when you finish painting. It wont look right if you don't, even with orange bulbs.

One more thing. You're going to want to use a semi gloss to look like the JDM blacked out housings. If you really want to look "JDM" paint the clear lens cover amber where the turn signal is. You will have to use really good masking tape and have some patience with it.

Thanks, TogoeMonster. I will try again this morning on the amber piece. Your lights look really good. Do you have any finished light pictures?

By the way, why did you cut out the excess adhesive? I plan to reuse the grey adhesive, like others suggested, and add some silicon sealant where needed.
