People with aftermarket body kits....

do you guys scrape alot on speed bumps and driveways? do the side skirts scrape? im debating between keeping the oem evo 8 kit and getting a lip and jdm ix rear bumper ( or apr diffuser) or a cwest front with ings+1 sides and rear.

i figure with a lip i would be as low as the cwest front bumper, but the ings sides would be like 2 inches lower than stock so i was wondering if thats too low or would cause problems on speed bumps and driveways. i have jic coilovers tuned by robi on the oem wheels and tires, but plan on running them and a set of 18s. please post helpful info. thanks!

the body kit would look like evodave's car but without the voltex canards.

you don't go up bumps or steep driveways straight up. you go up side-ways!

exactly, but sometimes, depending on the body kit, you can still scrape (front for sure and maybe sides). this decision has been driving me crazy!! lol i like the aggressive look of a body kit but at the same time i like the clean stock-like look. i just dont want to get a body kit and then scrape everywhere, especially when im running the oem wheels and tires (guess mainly the sides are important because the front has a chance no matter what since i would be going with a do luck lip).

+1 on not going or over bumps or entering steep hills straight up, go at an angle you should be good... of course there are the few occasions that you can't avoid going straight up so you have to scrape and hate yourself for a little bit, but you get over it...

i have never scraped the side skirts though... thats a new one to me

if it helps any, i have the chargespeed full body kit (minus the wide fenders)

some lips like the do-luck, r supposivly lower then the c-west bumper....(thats what ive heard dont quote me on it) but the fact is with most body mods that takes away ground clearence ur most likely gonna scrap it here and there....especially when u first have it on cause u probably wont know where the limits r....then also if the roads in ur area r crappy, and speed bumps and everything else thats intended to kill ur car...lol

Agreed, depending on the lip you get, it may be just as low, if not lower than a full kit. If the front and rear are the only parts that are lower than stock I don't think you would have much of an issue. Just make sure when you go over speed bumps, or up driveways, to go up on an angle. Most aftermarket side skirts, except maybe the Voltex kit and Ings kit, are not much lower than stock so it shouldn't be an issue.

Just do your homework and remember how low your car is when navigating speed bumps and driveways. Once you have a kit for a while, you should have a feel for when you are going to scrape. Just get a small bottle of touch up paint if your worried about it that much.

not sure what front kit i have because it came with the car here is a pic , but honestly its a pain in the *** scrapes very easily I would not recommend it for a daily driver , altho mine is also a little worse because the car is lowerd a ting , and its lowerd more in the front then the back so being pointed down probly doesnt help. I like the way it looks but pulling in places when u have someone riding your *** and u dont want them to slam into u but at the same time u have to creep to try not to scrape just becomes a big biiioootchh lol trust me i'd leave her be stock if it scrapes bad enough I will be replacing with a OEM if i can

My car is pretty low with a bodykit, and is daily driven in NY. I have never scraped my sideskirts in all the years I've been kitted. Front bumper occasionally, but even that is rare.

You just have to learn to adjust ur driving style. You take inclines/declines at an angle, making sure the wheel goes first on the incline or decline. And then there are just some driveways u stay away from all together.
