Quote: Got my wheels back from powdercoat and snapped a few pics of the results. They came out great, the inside, hub, and face all are perfect! They sure do look great with the black BBS center caps.

Rims look great, I am assuming it is a high-gloss finish? Did you also powder coat the lug nuts?

before and after weights of the rims.
I don't have an accurate scale, but I would assume the new powdercoat would balance out (or close to) the removed finish, and not be a noticeable gain over the stock 18.5 lbs. Not sure

how much
See post #12:

Quote: I took them to one of many local finishing shops. They originally estimated me at $60 a wheel, due to the need for glass bead stripping because they're forged aluminum. Turns out the guys only charged me $200 flat when I went to pick them up :gotme:

what kind of powdercoat did they use
I didn't know there was different types of powdercoat. I just told them high gloss black, so they used black powdercoat as well as a clearcoat powdercoat.

where is this shop located
The shop is called Buffalo Finishing Works, in Buffalo, NY. The phone number probably wouldn't help since you're in NJ.

I had a wide variety of shops to choose from in the area, I can only assume that there are many finishing/powdercoating shops in your area.

I'd check google, the internet is an awesome resource

Did you specify a low-heat powdercoat? The higher temps associated with powdercoating can weaken forged wheels.

I dont think <400 degrees is gonna hurt the metal.

What are you basing your opinion on? Forged wheels can and do weaken with high heat applications. Do a search on it.
