What do you think forged pistons are made of? Aluminum, and they handle 1400 degree heat without a problem so I dont think 400 degrees of heat in a non extreme environment is going to cause any bad things to happen. I may be wrong, but it just doesnt seem likely. The melting point of aluminum is ~1200 degree (constant), 400 is a third of that.

Right, but the weakening happens when you RE-heat the metal. When you forge a wheel the strength happens during the first process. With forged aluminum, the metal gets more brittle the more its reheated.

Does anyone here know of a reliable place in northern NJ that will do a good job powdercoating? I want the same thing done to mine.

And another question to anyonewith BBS rims, would you be able to leave the logo on? I believe so just want to confirm that.

Yes, the centercaps popped right back in place. The black of the center caps matched up perfectly with the powdercoat. :tup:

beautiful! ive seen the gloss black powdercoated bbs rims both with and without the logo -- the logo gives it a nice look!
