Palm Treo GPS : The Most Convenient GPS for the Evo.
Palm Treo GPS : The Most Convenient GPS for the Evo.
Hey everyone, I don't believe I have ever seen anyone do this, but for those of you that have a Palm Treo, I think it is a great idea. As you can see from the pictures, I purchased one of those cellphone holders from Pep Boys and mounted it to the left driver's side vent. From there I slip my treo in and can use it in speakerphone mode when I want to talk and drive at the same time, or if I need to use the GPS, I switch to the TomTom GPS program that I have installed and it has a voice guided GPS that tells me how to get where I want to go. The GPS receiver unit that i am using is plugged into the cigarette lighter for simple removal. As you can see, this entire set-up can be easily put in your pocket and taken with you. In my case, I obviously need my phone every day so I pull it out when I leave the car. So what you you guys think? Good idea?
The navi is very good, it gives you many options on what type of route you want it to create (i.e. fastest, shortest, avoid highway, etc.) It will also list out pinpoints such as nearby gas stations, shopping areas, etc. TomTom is becoming such a popular brand GPS now, and you can find a unit usually at any retail store. Now will it be as good as an OEM GPS like the one's built into Acuras and Audis? No, but hey I paid nothing for the software (cracked), about 5 bucks for the holster, and $100 for the receiver. Not too bad huh?
