Here is mine, i cut the top of the steering column cover then it sits level and i can still see all my other stock gauges.

even bending my head i could not get a good look of what u did, can u post better pics??? maybe daytime ones???? what u described seems like a good idea

yea, i tried that...the only problem is you wont be able to use the peak display function. You have to have access to a yellow button that is on the side of the display. If you mount it flush, you wont have access to that button and the peak display function is very handy

there is a green scratch protection plastic sheet over the screen out of the box...

does the display get "brighter" after its removed?

It does a little Abner but its not that bad. Not over powereding in any way.

yea it actually looks off white not greenish, i took mine off yesterday because with the heat it started getting little bubbles. BTW once its off its a pita to see when the sun is relfecting on the car so i opened the sunvisor or w.e is called and there is no glare .

also if u don't like it w/o the green overlay u can always put it back it will still stick

That is a clean mount.....i like also that the trim around the upper console was replaced to match the finish if the dash

here is mine.
realize you lose the yellow peakhold button, but I use mine mostly for datalogging, so the peakhold is not needed, as your peak is displayed on the graph.

wish zeitronics and others would make a din sized controller.
