that was around a 1500 dollar job if I remember correctly...the price on a job like that can vary depending on if you buy the taillight from dealer or get it off the forums and where and how much you paid for the jdm rear...

And yeah, we get some weird things to paint as well. Including garage doors, house doors, tractors, and other misc small things.

And I think I am not charging enough to do work myself. I only charge ~100-200 (depending) for painting rims. O_o
Suby guys are one of a kind haha...yea for rims we do them for 400 a set if the rims have tires mounted and 300 if not...it takes a long time to prep those babies properly especially those multiple spoke wheels...

I think I should re-adjust my costs on custom painting. There's a guy around here charging $500 JUST to pull the trigger for bike parts. I've been charging $500 to do the prep work and minor scratch removal. (Granted, that's for a solid color).

Worse, is the guy charging just for the trigger pulling does shoddy work. :| I've had maybe 4-6 jobs that he has done come to me afterwards. Sad part is, I probably could have charged those people 900+, and they would have complained about the cost. Now they've paid ~$1,000, and they had double the downtime. I guess word needs to get out, eh?

So yeah, I need to charge more. lol

I know, it's certainly a ways away. Seems like you do good work, glad to know I'm not the only one left in this world full of hacks.

No, not a fan of dodgin' cones, wouldn't want to scuff the paint.

But, if I'm ever around I'll be sure to hit ya up. Checkin out modern shops is pretty cool, but I still prefer working in the smaller shops. Unfortunatly, all you bigger guys and insurance companies will eventaully run us into the ground. Oh well, just a sign of changing times. The hard part is finding the big shop that does good work.
