The Ultimate Aggressive Wheel Thread...

I'm competing in a summer Sprint series here (hence the reason for having huge stickers on the car) and wanted to try out 285 semislicks in the name of being as competitive in my class as possible and, well, just to see the difference between these and the numerous sets of 235/245 semis I've been running in terms of grip. I've seen some guys like EVOlutionary and Warrtalon running 285/30s so thought I'd give it a shot.
I bought the Rotas used off a guy here who tracks a 350Z. He likes to run the same size all around as opposed to the usual staggered 350Z setup so these are basically four 350Z REAR rims I'm running right now. Got a great deal on them but they weigh a TON (something like 23 lbs per corner) so I'm looking at those Enkei RCT4s that Speed Element's got right in order to shed a few pounds
The level of fender rolling I had done is not for the faint of heart - the rear fenders are rolled and pulled to the max. I basically told the bodyshop guys to do anything possible to get the fenders to clear the tires no matter what it looked like
The rear fenders rolled so much that the sheet metal above the arches where they're rolled actually got dented IN under the pressure and had to be hammered out again. It's a pretty clean job but I do need to send it back to the bodyshop for a little extra finishing work next week.
Good news is that they do clear though and no rubbing - and that's under track conditions! In the front, you need to watch for clearance between the springs and inner side of the tires - I had to set the camber bolts on the hubs to MIN camber and then MAX camber on the camber plates - works out to -2.4 camber up front which is perfect.
I also noticed that the inside of the fronts tend to rub the frame of the car when I'm at full lock, as well as a bit of rubbing on the fender liners.
Pulling 1.2 lateral Gs at will is worth all the hassle though
if you find out a way to mod your fender liner so it dont rub, please tell!!!...
i musta went thru 3 sets of liners since my wheel install...

LOL! You're actually right...I paid about double for the tires compared to what I did for the rims!

...dont ask about the valve stems, it will be fixed.
haven't figured out if I want to pull the front liner yet...and sorry for the crappy photos!! lol
